The Data Need to be a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Finish your Education and Get Ready for the Exam.
If you want to become a registered respiratory therapist, you need to be aware of all the obligations in order to start working in the field. A registered respiratory therapist is referred to as being a RRT. Patients with lung problems are treated by RRTs.
Working with patients to help them with rehabilitation exercises, checking their lung capacity and seeing if their lungs are ok and working with equipment like ventilators are all tasks of the RRT.
Treating serious lung disorders like emphysema and cystic fibrosis will be part of your responsibilities as well.
Your first step must be to find registered respiratory therapist training at school. To enter this profession, you have to graduate in 2 or 4 years with either an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree.
You can begin your studies at home with courses to prepare you for completing your 4 year bachelor's degree program from an accredited school.
When you graduate, you have the option of taking the national exam, and if your successful, you will become a certified respiratory therapist or CRT. After passing this exam, then you can sit for two additional exams in order to become a registered respiratory therapist.
It is easy to search for the different RRT programs on the web. There are numerous web sites that contain RRT programs, so check out these different respiratory therapy schools. When you've made your short list, you simply have to call them to get more facts.
You need licensure to start working as a registered respiratory therapist. To qualify for licensing, you must graduate from an accredited university and pass the CRT exam.
Next you must pass the RRT exam. In order to become a registered respiratory therapist, this exam will assess you much information you know and how well you can perform the duties required to succeed in this field.
There is also the NBRC test that has to be taken. The 48 states that rule over the field of registered respiratory therapist jobs all offer this same licensing test.
