Every single thing that is around you is a product of some specific sort of engineering. Fields of engineering include automotive engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering and chemical engineering. Engineers use scientific and mathematic principles to design new products for the marketplace. Because human society always has a need to make improvements, there always will be a demand for engineers. Responding to that need, most online colleges now offer online degrees in diverse engineering fields of study.
The study of engineering must have a firm foundation in mathematics and sciences. Also, each particular field of study has courses specific to it which the student must take as well. Almost all engineering studies are tailor made for online degrees, but not all of them are. Most engineering positions demand at least a bachelor's degree for an entry position.
A few of the engineering fields that online degrees are available include robotic and electronics engineering, civil engineering and mechanical engineering.
Online degrees in electrical engineering include bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees. The concentration in or of electrical engineering deals with the study and application of electricity and electromagnetism. In the U. S. especially, electrical engineering embodies the study of electronic engineering also. In other places around the world, these two fields are separated. When that occurs, electrical engineering studies electricity on a larger scale, with projects concerning such items as power transmission and motors. In contrast, electronics engineering studies electricity on a far smaller scale, with projects that involve smaller items such as iPods, cellular telephones, and other items that requireelectricity to process information.
Online degrees in civil engineering also run the gamut from bachelor's all the way through doctorate degrees. Civil engineers design bridges, dams, roads, canals and buildings. Generally, civil engineering is broken into more definite subjects, for example like environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, housing or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering, surveying, and construction engineering. Civil engineering is one field of engineering where distance students with online degrees in it can finish up working for anybody from the government to large companies to people. The selection of disciplines, and projects, makes civil engineering very appealing.
Mechanical engineering is the science of designing machines, prototypes and products. Online degrees in mechanical engineering allow a student to get a bachelor's degree, an advanced degree or a doctorate degree. Fields in which a mechanical engineer might find themselves working include manufacturing, design, automobile, biomedical engineering, consulting, HVAC systems (heating, vents and air conditioning systems), nuclear engineering and robotics, to name only one or two.
There are programs offering bachelor's and master's online degrees in chemical engineering also. Because chemical engineering applies the science of chemistry to design problems, many though not all, chemical engineers begin with a basic degree in either chemistry or general engineering before going on on with a focus of chemical engineering. Online degrees in chemical engineering need the college student to study arithmetic, chemistry, physics, biology and thermodynamics, to name only one or two subjects. Chemical engineering is without a doubt a decidedly more specialized kind of engineering than some of the other engineering disciplines, and so while there's a great market demand for chemical engineers, the places where they work are restricted to those businesses which make use of chemicals in one type or another, with examples being cosmetics, the health care industry, food production and detergent manufacturing.
